I live in the Northwest so good coffee is not hard to find. In fact, for the past year my wife and I have been buying our beans at a great little roaster around the corner from our house. The coffee was amazing and we paid almost $13 for a 12oz bag of whole bean. These roasters are coffee fanatics and they know their stuff. We were content.
For some reason I had always thought of Boyd's as coffee for "old people" and thought it would probably taste like a step up from Folger's. I never bothered to try it until...........
I was driving out in Gresham and had some time to kill so I stopped by Boyd's retail store. I picked up a pound of Q-Rated Gutemalan Estate for $10.95 and promptly went home and prepared a French Press. It was just as flavorful as the coffee from our local roaster, with a smoother finish. It was also a much better value. That was 2 weeks ago and I just picked up my 4th bag this morning. While there I also picked up some of their awesome flavored syrups. While Boyd's may have been in business for over 100 years, there is nothing stale about the way the do coffee. Get a fresh bag of this coffee and you will see what I mean.
