(More customer reviews)Each of these packages contain 8 espresso discs and 8 creamer discs. The creamer discs are made from 2% milk and are liquid (unlike some single-serve machines that use a powdered milk). To make a latte, you use the espresso disc first, then follow it with a creamer disc. The milk isn't steamed, as hot water is pumped through it, but it comes out hot and makes an excellent latte.
As a special treat, you can make a latte machiatta using these discs. To do that, and get the cup of coffee you can see in the background in the picture, where the cream and coffee is layered, you do the following steps: Put a clear glass coffee cup in the machine. The tall narrow cups for after-dinner coffees work well; use the creamer disc first; then use the espresso disc. As the espresso is released into the cream, it layers itself over the cream. If you like sweetened coffee, then put either sugar or artificial sweetener in the glass first, add just a little hot water (a couple teaspoons) to dissolve it, maybe a drop of vanilla, then go through the brewing steps. Drinking one of the layered ones is different in that it starts out strong and bold because the espresso is floating on the top, but gets creamier and milder as you drink your way down.
The lattes from this package are smooth and flavorful, and the serving size is good. It's a wonderful dessert coffee, or a coffee when you want to treat yourself.
