The Monin syrups are the best. I've tried two or three of the other manufacturers and there's just no comparison. The hazlenut has richness, depth to the taste, that makes the others seem flat or fake. Their Peach is also really nice.

General Foods International Viennese Chocolate Cafe Drink Mix, 8-Ounce Tins (Pack of 6) Review

General Foods International Viennese Chocolate Cafe Drink Mix, 8-Ounce Tins (Pack of 6)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been drinking General Foods Int'l Coffee Mix powders for 30yrs. I drank Swiss Mocha for approx. 20 yrs. After traveling to Vienna and enjoying their coffee, I switched to Viennese Chocolate Cafe. I fell in love with the chocolate flavor which is perfectly blended with the coffee flavor in Viennese Chocolate Cafe. I cannot find this blend in anything else, and I look forward to enjoying my Viennese Choc. Cafe every single morning. I go through a can a week! It will be a very disappointing time if this flavor ever goes away.

General Foods International Cafe Francais Coffee Drink Mix, 8-Ounce Tins (Pack of 6) Review

General Foods International Cafe Francais Coffee Drink Mix, 8-Ounce Tins (Pack of 6)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I also have been a fan of Cafe Francais since it came on the market. I so look forward to my coffee each morning. No more!!! The shipment I received last week came in a tin with a new look. My first thought was to check the ingredients against my old tin. Well guess what-----they changed a perfect formula. It has more sugar, less fat, more sodium, and a whole lot less coffee. It tastes more like creamer with very little coffee flavor. I sent an e-mail to General Foods International Coffees and am waiting for a reply. In the mean time I will not order it anymore unless they change the formula again. I am soooooo disappointed that General Foods would mess with perfection but not surprised. As I told General Foods in my e-mail, the Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans would be amused that they are passing off this new formula as Cafe Francais.

Green Mountain Pumpkin Spice Limited Edition Coffee For Keurig K-Cup Brewing System, 18 Count Review

Green Mountain Pumpkin Spice Limited Edition Coffee For Keurig K-Cup Brewing System, 18 Count
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you like other Green Mountain flavored coffees, especially if you like the other seasonal light-roast flavors, you will probably like this one. I really liked the Green Mountain Blue-Berry and thought I would try this and am very pleased. It seems like a great fit for the fall. The flavor and aroma seem a bit stronger than in the blue-berry. Like the blue-berry, this is a light roast. At first I thought light would mean weak, but it seems like the perfect match for the flavor so that it is still coffee and nicely flavored without either over-powering the other. It is nothing like a starbucks. So if you want a strong coffee taste above all, then this isn't one for you, but if you want a nice flavored light coffee, I think it is great.
Like other flavored coffees, you should only brew this on the normal default coffee cup size (6oz) on the Keurig brewer or you will water it down if you use the mug size or larger.

Average Reviews:

No complaints with this product. I had a hard time even telling that it was sugar-free. You have to kind of learn through trial and error how much syrup to use to get the taste to your liking, but once you're dialed in, it's superb. A bit pricey, but I'll probably buy it again some time as a treat. Don't know if its required, but I keep the in the refrigerator after I open it, and didn't notice any degradation in flavor.

Caffe D'Amore Chai Amore, East India Spice Chai - 3 lb Bag

I bought this for my fiance because it says non-dairy and my fiance is allergic to milk. I made him a cup and he immediately broke out in a rash, then started wheezing and coughing! I looked at the bag and noticed the ingredients listed sodium caseinate and noted it was a milk derivative! This is one of the milk proteins that people with allergies are allergic! So do not order this if you need it parve or non-dairy or if you are allergic to milk!
On the upside, it does taste good and shipping was very fast!

Average Reviews:

I love tea, but never been a fan of Chai tea. Then my sister sent me this brand, and it is delicious! A wonderful rich flavor similar to hot chocolate, but not so sweet. No transfats, no gluten, no hydrogenated oils. 99% caffeine free, so you can enjoy it in the afternoon. I haven't tried the vanilla or chocolate yet, but am sure going to. Try it by buying the smaller packets, and if you like it, it's available at Sam's Club in a big can for a very cost-saving price.

I don't know how quaker did it, but you really taste the 'muffin' in this oatmeal! It is so yummy. The only thing I wish was different was that it had more fiber. It has 4g, which isn't bad, but if they could make this flavor in their high fiber version I would never eat anything else for breakfast!

Da Vinci Syrup Sugar Free Holiday Gift Set: Sugar Free Gingerbread, Sugar Free Peppermint & Sugar Free Pumpkin Pie Syrups Review

Da Vinci Syrup Sugar Free Holiday Gift Set: Sugar Free Gingerbread, Sugar Free Peppermint and Sugar Free Pumpkin Pie Syrups
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was excited to get these syrups, as I have tried other brands in the past and was disappointed with the strength of the flavor. I like a strong flavor without having to add too much syrup, as too much makes the drink too sweet.
Unfortunately, these are the most watery syrups I have tried to date. They are only marginally thicker than water. Also, all the syrups have a strange banana-like smell. The pumpkin pie syrup specifically smells like artificial banana candies, while the other two, even the peppermint, have a distinct if secondary banana smell.
They don't taste any different from their stated flavors, but the smell is somewhat overwhelming. Also, in order to achieve the desired flavor, I had to add so much syrup that the drink was way too sweet to drink. I was really hoping to be able to make my own coffee shop lattes, but these syrups simply do not have the strength or flavor to do the job. A dash of cinnamon adds more flavor than a few pumps of these.

Red Espresso Ground Rooibos Tea, 8.8-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 2) Review

Red Espresso Ground Rooibos Tea, 8.8-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 2)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The first impression on opening the bag is that it smells very strongly of moist hay. It is very dusty, reddish-brown in color, and the texture is very fine. The leaves do not curl like tea leaves.
I made the rooibos in both a stovetop espresso maker and in a regular drip coffee maker but I don't have a french press or an electric espresso machine. I also did not try it brewed loose in a pot because that is not suggested.
Compared to normal steeped rooibos, it is a bit stronger and has more body, presumably due to the finer grind. The stovetop method makes a stronger brew than the drip maker and this presumably has to do with the filter in the drip maker and the higher water temperature and pressure from conversion to steam in the espresso method. The strength of the prepared beverage is also determined by how much rooibos you use.
After each method of preparation, i tasted it plain, with raw sugar, and then with both raw sugar and milk. I did not try to froth the milk or add anything else because I don't take coffee or tea that way, drinking them plain most of the time, occasionally with milk and sugar, and very rarely with sugar only. I didn't try it with honey because I did not think the honey flavor would go well with it although I frequently use honey in tea, more often than sugar. I prefer the stovetop espresso method taken with sugar only.
The prepared beverage certainly has a beautiful, rich color, quite remarkable, like old cherry or mahogany. The flavor is similar to the smell, a bit like green tea with a strong moist or even musty hay- or grass-like flavor that lingers on the tongue for a very long time, over an hour. It is a quite complex flavor, definitely not one-note. I don't particularly care for the taste, I must confess, but I am rating it on quality, not on my personal preferences in hot beverages. I wouldn't hesitate to offer it to guests, especially if they had never had rooibos.
I am not impressed with it as a substitute for coffee or tea as a way to avoid caffeine because decaffeinated versions of both coffee and tea are readily available. The health appeal doesn't seduce me, either, because I know of no reliable independent research clearly demonstrating favorable health outcomes in humans from drinking rooibos. Because of the price, I would experiment with regular loose-leaf rooibos and run it through a coffee grinder or food processor or even a blender if I decided that this were something I wanted to drink on a regular basis and that achieving a fine grind was important to the final product.
The novelty of preparing rooibos with coffee equipment and the stronger than average brew that lends itself to fancy methods of presentation should appeal to many and from that viewpoint I can give it a favorable rating.
UPDATE:
What a mess! I just made another pot with an electric drip machine and this time the filter completely clogged up and the brew overflowed all over the counter and clean floor (mopped it yesterday) and even got into the heating element of the Mr. Coffee. Make sure if you use an electric drip machine that you don't leave it alone while brewing. Better yet, use a different method of brewing.
It is interesting that I actually used less of the rooibos this morning than I did during the original test. I use standard paper filters.

The red story

A coffee junkie with a love for espresso, South African farmer Carl Pretorius walked into his kitchen one day desperate for a fix. Conscious of the toll caffeine was taking on his health, he realised he needed to find a healthy alternative - one that didn't compromise on taste or sophisticated espresso style.

Inspired by Rooibos tea - a South African herbal tea that is naturally caffeine-free and renowned for its health benefits - Carl started experimenting with creating a healthy espresso made from tea. After many months, he finally succeeded in expressing a shot that had everything he had been looking for: a delicious, rich-tasting, full-bodied Rooibos tea espresso - coated with crema!

Patenting the product, Carl teamed up with friends and family and, in 2006, red espresso® was born. With it came a range of delicious café-style red drinks - destined to revolutionise café culture the world over!

Via Italian Roast 3PK CS24 Review

Via Italian Roast 3PK CS24
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I tried VIA when it first came out. I tried it the traditional route--as a hot cup o' java. I did not like it. Not this roast and not the Columbian (which was so weak, why bother).
So, it's hot. It's summer. I normally hit Starbucks after the gym for my fave iced sugar free vanilla latte. I saw the ad for the iced coffee VIA, but it has sugar. I don't want sugar. So, it hit me, why not try making iced coffee from the regular VIA. (duh, should have thought of that sooner). I bought a 3-packer (like this one shown in image).
It was amazing. 2% milk (about a cup), ice, Starbucks sugar free vanilla syrup (I buy it at my local Starbucks), in a blender bottle and shake, shake, shake. It comes out frothy and delicious. FOr me, I like it BETTER than my habitual 2 to 3x a week fix of it at the store. Because you add the VIA to the milk and the milk is cold and the instant coffee is not hot (like espresso), there is NO DILUTION. It makes for a much more flavorful, less watery, iced latte. OH MY GOSH SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good.
Now, my problem is not having three lattes a day, instead of three a week. Seriously. I'm a junkie now. (And I have coffee everyday, but my homebrew is so much better than Starbuck's that I don't get hot coffee there, I just used to like the convenience--still do--of grabbing a fast latte after exercising. I have a great coffee set-up at home with Paradise Roasters and Terroir gourmet single origins and a Technivorm and a Barratza burr grinder and filtered water pitcher, so really, now that I can make a fast latte at home and take it with me to the Pilates studio and put in the fridge there until I'm done, I may not be visiting the Starbucks as much, except to get my fave protein plate now and then and stock up on VIA.)
The product is crazy overpriced. What...more than five bucks for what's 3 servings? How sick is that? Buy it at the store unless the price is dropped. That's crazy.
But, nummy latte.
So, if iced lattes are you vice of choice, might wanna consider this. And if you don't want sugar, skip the one they're pushing now in the blue packaging and buy the unsweetened.
And I just slurped one after dinner (latte that is). Addictive. (Er, literally, I guess.) But at least I'm getting my calcim. :D
